Costs & requirements

The cost per credit hour is $123.17 for a total investment of just over $3,900 for the one-year certificate. Fees are not included and may represent additional, incremental costs (for example, on-line fees are $25 per credit hour). Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Kanawha Valley and Bridgemont Community and Technical College do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age.

Application Process
  1. Attend an information session to learn about the chemical industry and career information (see schedule below)

  2. Become admitted to Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College or Bridgemont Community and Technical College. Apply online at Kanawha Valley or Bridgemont

  3. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on line at FAFSA.

  4. Arrange to have ACT scores and Official transcripts mailed to respective community and technical college (see college addresses below)

  5. If you have never taken the ACT exam, then make arrangements to take the ACT or ACCUPLACER exam. Before taking either exam visit here for ACT practice or here for ACCUPLACER practice. These websites are free and students are encouraged to take practice tests because the test results are used to place students in Math and English classes. Low scores may mean that a student must begin college in "developmental" courses which do not count toward graduation hours, but are required to prepare students for college-level courses.

  6. Remember the deadline for admissions and FAFSA applications is June 30th, if student is solely dependent on financial aid.

  7. Register for courses at either community and technical college.
