About

This program was proposed by a consortium of chemical companies, known as the Chemical Alliance Zone, and is offered in partnership by the Chemical Industry Committee of the WV Manufacturers Association, the Center for Advanced Process Technology and Bridgemont Community and Technical College and Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College.

Local chemical companies have job openings, today and into the future, due to retirement or expansion over the next few years. This program is a way to prepare for that employment need.

Individuals who complete three courses (Introduction to Process Technology, Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality) will earn a Basic Skill set certificate. Students who complete the entire eight course technical core will earn a Chemical Process Operator Advanced Skill Set certificate. If desired, these courses can also be applied directly toward fulfilling the requirements for an Associate in Applied Science Degree (a two-year degree).
